Simple and contrast-enhanced tomography of the abdomen and pelvis

1. The tomography is contrasted, so you must have a fasting period of at least 6 hours.

2. You must arrive two hours in advance for exam preparation (you must ingest a contrast medium before the exam).

3. Take 1 oral travad enema at 3pm the day before the exam, which produces liquid stools in order to cleanse the colon and allow better visualization of the organs.

4. Confirm with the radiologist if rectal contrast medium is required.

5. Submit the creatinine result no more than 20 days after the test.

6. If you have an allergy to iodinated contrast medium or any medication or food, you must inform the clinic staff.

7. Do not wear metallic elements or jewelry that interfere with the images.

8. You must remove your glasses and dentures.

9. If you are pregnant or think you are pregnant, the diagnostic aid staff should be informed.

10. Continue with the medications for your underlying disease with little water intake. If you are taking METFORMIN, you must stop it 48 hours before the tomography, and inform the diagnostic aid service personnel.

11. You must attend the exam with a companion who is of legal age, who has available time and is receptive to receiving the information and recommendations.

12. You must present: medical order, clinical history, previous radiological studies, authorization from the EPS or insurer.​​
