X-ray preparation

What is a mammogram?
 

X-rays are a non-invasive and painless procedure that uses ionizing radiation to obtain images of the body that facilitate the detection of diseases in the bones, soft tissues, skull, paranasal sinuses, thorax and abdomen.


Important: If you are a woman and you are or think you are pregnant, you should tell the radiology staff immediately.

Instructions before the exam

  • On the day of the study, adequate body hygiene is required.

  • You must present the order and authorCurrent ization, addressed to the Astorga Oncology Clinic, results of paraclinical tests requested.

  • You must present the results of previous examinations related to the procedure to be performed.

  • Patients over 60 years of age, with reduced mobility, neurological deficit, must attend with a companion.

  • If the patient has allergies, they must inform the diagnostic aid service personnel.

Other instructions according to the X-ray

X-ray of cervical spine, thoracic, lumbar spine, sacrum, coccyx

 

The day before the exam, eat a liquid diet such as: tea, herbs, consommé, liquid soups, juices in water.

 

abdominal x-ray

 

If the doctor orders an X-ray with colon preparation, you should:

 

  • Two days before the X-ray to eat a soft diet, please avoid the consumption of: broccoli, cauliflower, watermelon, onion, legumes (lentils, beans, tilefish, chickpeas), consumption of dark drinks and carbonated drinks.

  • The day before the exam, eat a liquid diet such as: tea, herbs, consommé, liquid soups, juices in water.

  • At 6pm you should take half a bottle of ENEMA TRAVAD ORAL and at 10pm you take the other half.

  • You must present yourself with 6 hours of fasting before the exam.

  • Present the result of creatinine.

X-ray of esophagus, stomach, duodenum

 

You must fast for 6 hours before the scheduled time for the exam.

Other X-rays

 

No special preparation is required apart from the general recommendations
 

Instructions after the exam

 

  • After the exam, no special care is required.

  • After the study you can continue with your normal diet.
